This is the first clock
with a bell counting
mechanism and a sweep
second hand; features
which practically tripled
the complexity. The main
AC motor drives the gear
reduction to the clock
hands. At the hour, a
micro switch is tripped
which initiated another
motor which would then
ring the bell an
appropriate number of
times.
It was created from
sheet steel, tubular steel,
welding rod brass and,
copper. It has been left
unfinished so as to allow
a natural oxidized patina.
