A Clockwork Orange
It occurred to me recently
that my world has become
as crazy as a clockwork
orange. The idea, of course,
being a rather obtuse
allusion to the landmark
film by Stanley Kubrick
based on the 1962 novel,
by Anthony Burgess with
same name. The concept
as described by Mister
Burgess is the juxtaposition
of organic life driven by
"free will", with a robotic
and deterministic mechanism
that possesses no "free will".
Instead of focusing on the
countless examples of these
automata bumping into walls
around me, I was more
intrigued by the challenge
of creating an actual clockwork
orange, (being a simple meat-
puppet myself)
Submitted for your approval,
a working clockwork orange.
